This performance was created for the Parcours d’art d’Ixelles in Brussels in 2023. By embodying the character of Mr. Middleman—a mysterious museum employee dressed in a blue shirt with technical pockets and performing formal gestures—I assumed the role of an official site mediator. Over time, his movements became increasingly absurd and unsettling.

The labels he distributes reference artworks that are not physically present, prompting the audience to search for them as if conducting an investigation. He is a mediator who, paradoxically, complicates access to the work. The performance invites reflection on our role as spectators: how do museum administration, institutional frameworks, and gallery settings shape—and sometimes distort—our access to art?
